Indonesia has taken another strategic step in boosting its tourism presence in China through Wonderful Indonesia Business Matching (WIBM) 2025, recently held in Beijing. The event was organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing and INACHAM, strengthening the nation’s position in one of its most important source markets.
Showcasing Indonesia’s Best Destinations
At WIBM 2025, Indonesia promoted thirteen leading destinations including Lake Toba, Bali, Yogyakarta, Bromo Tengger Semeru, the Gili Islands, Komodo, Raja Ampat, and more. These destinations were presented under the #GoBeyondOrdinary campaign, emphasizing Indonesia’s diverse attractions from cultural heritage and natural wonders to luxury and adventure travel.
High Potential from China
China remains a vital contributor to Indonesia’s tourism growth. By July 2025, Indonesia welcomed 8.5 million international arrivals, with 764,000 visitors from China. The government projects up to 1.35 million Chinese arrivals by the end of the year. With direct flight routes to Jakarta, Bali, Manado, and Surabaya, connectivity continues to strengthen market potential.
Impressive Business Results
The Beijing program delivered strong outcomes. With 22 Indonesian tourism players participating, business meetings generated over 12,984 potential travelers and an estimated revenue of Rp 254.5 billion (around US$15.4 million). This underscores the effectiveness of WIBM in driving tangible value for Indonesia’s tourism sector.
