Qatar Airways, the renowned award-winning airline, has marked a significant milestone with the successful launch of its inaugural flight from Doha to Medan on Monday, 15 January 2024
During the inaugural event, passengers were treated to a warm departure at Hamad International Airport, featuring cupcakes and music. The flight, QR966, arrived at Kualanamu International Airport to a water cannon salute and a reception attended by high-ranking government officials, including the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Indonesia, H.E Ms. Fawziya Edrees Salman Al-Sulaiti, and the Indonesian Ambassador to Qatar, H.E Ridwan Hassan.
On the same occasion, Al Baker also announced plans to increase flight frequencies to various destinations this year. One of them is the expansion of flights to Denpasar, which will increase from 14 weekly flights to 21 weekly flights. Additionally, there will be an increase in flight frequencies to other destinations, such as:
- Berlin, going from 11 to 14 weekly flights
- Hong Kong from 11 to 14 weekly flights
- Manila from 17 to 18 weekly flights
- Edinburgh from 10 to 14 weekly flights
- Hanoi from 10 to 12 weekly flights.
Furthermore, there will be frequency enhancements to other cities, including:
- Cairo increasing from 21 to 28 weekly flights
- Dublin from 12 to 14 weekly flights
- Madrid from 16 to 18 weekly flights
- Milan from 16 to 21 weekly flights,
- Zurich from 10 to 14 weekly flights.
Qatar Airways will also resume services to 11 destinations, namely Beijing in China, Birmingham in the United Kingdom, Buenos Aires in Argentina, Casablanca in Morocco, Davao in the Philippines, Marrakesh in Morocco, Nice in France, Osaka in Japan, Phnom Penh in Cambodia, Ras Al-Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Tokyo (Haneda) in Japan.
